1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a Talker account, we collect your mobile phone number or email address, country code, and the platform you are using (iOS or Android). During profile setup, you may provide your name and a profile photo.

Contacts

With your permission, Talker accesses your device contacts to help you find and connect with other Talker users. Contact phone numbers are sent to our servers for matching purposes only.

Communications Data

Talker facilitates push-to-talk audio messages, live broadcasts, and text-based messages within channels. Audio messages are recorded on your device and transmitted to channel participants. We process message metadata (sender, timestamp, channel) to deliver messages reliably.

Device Information

We collect device identifiers, operating system version, app version, and locale settings to provide and improve our services, and to deliver push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

Location Data

With your permission, Talker may collect location data to support workspace administration features such as team coordination. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.

Usage Analytics

We use analytics services to understand how users interact with the app, including events like account creation, message activity, and feature usage. This data helps us improve the app experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your Talker account
  • Enable push-to-talk communication, messaging, and live broadcasts
  • Match your contacts to find other Talker users
  • Send push notifications for messages, channel updates, and live sessions
  • Provide workspace management and team coordination features
  • Diagnose technical issues and improve app stability
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the app experience
  • Respond to your support requests and inquiries

3. Third-Party Services

Talker integrates with the following third-party services to provide and improve our app:

  • Firebase (Google) - Authentication, push notifications, crash reporting, and remote configuration
  • Amplitude - Analytics to understand app usage patterns
  • Smartlook - Session analytics to improve user experience
  • Branch - Deep linking for invitations and referrals
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Real-time audio and video streaming infrastructure

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers and on your local device. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Local data stored on your device includes your profile information, message history, contact data, and workspace settings.

Audio messages and media files are transmitted using encrypted connections. Real-time communication is facilitated through WebRTC with end-to-end encryption for peer-to-peer connections.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data in the following circumstances:

  • With other Talker users as necessary for communication features (e.g., your name and profile photo are visible to channel members)
  • With third-party service providers who assist in operating our services (as listed in Section 3)
  • When required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of Talker, our users, or the public

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your personal data:

  • Access and update your profile information within the app at any time
  • Revoke contact, microphone, camera, or location permissions through your device settings
  • Delete your account permanently through the app (Profile > Delete Account), which removes your name, profile photo, and all message history
  • Opt out of push notifications through your device settings

7. Push Notifications

Talker uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications for new messages, channel updates, live session invitations, and status changes. You can manage notification preferences through your device settings. Talker may run a foreground service to maintain connectivity for real-time communication.

8. Children's Privacy

Talker is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete such data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of Talker after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
